M548 Canisters FY25-FY30

Description: The Project Manager for Maneuver Ammunition Systems (PM-MAS), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ and the Army Contracting Command-Rock Island, IL (ACC-RI), are currently seeking sources for the manufacture and delivery of M548 Ammunition Containers.  The M548 Metal Ammunition Container is a rectangular air tight steel box, with internal dimensions of 7 7/16” x 18” x 14” high.  It is a critical packaging component used for movement and long term storage of small and medium caliber ammunition, along with various other ammunition items. 

Specifications:  The M548 Metal Ammunition Containers are purchased to a Government owned Technical Data Package (TDP).  A top level drawing (17258943) is available from the point of contact listed below.  Both the TDP and top level drawing are marked Distribution A, Approved for Public Release.  All applicable military drawings and specifications must be followed, reference MIL-S-23389B (w/Amendment 5), dated 9 January 2018.  The Government does not intend to deviate on any dimensional tolerance or specifications.

Planned Acquisition:  An Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity firm fixed price contract is contemplated for the period of FY25-FY30 with a planned award in 3QFY25 for approximately 24,000 each M548 Ammunition Containers annually. The contractor will be required to have the capacity to manufacture and deliver approximately 2,000 each M548s per month beginning January 2026. The Government is contemplating initiating a M548 Ammunition Can recycling program for this effort.  It is the Government’s intent to restrict the M548 Ammunition Container to the U.S. and Canada.

Submission Information:  All responsible interested sources should submit their capabilities/qualification data. The respondent's capabilities information must demonstrate the ability to produce approximately 24,000 M548 Ammunition Containers annually.  All potential producers are requested to submit a capability statement, which reflects their manufacturing capabilities, specialized equipment, critical skills, etc. Interested firms that can meet all the requirements set forth above are requested to submit responses with clear and convincing documentation via email to the point of contact listed.   Submittal of information is requested via electronic mail only, no later than 30 days from the date of this notice.  All responses should be submitted to ACC-Rock Island (ACC-RI), ATTN: CCRC-AF, Rock Island, IL 61299-6500 at ACC-RI, Contract Specialist –  Angela D.
