Description

The Contractor shall remove the trees listed below:
• one northern hemlock (24-inch dbh) at the southeast corner of the Guest House.
• one northern hemlock (18-inch dbh) at the northwest corner of the Guest House, and one balsam fir snag (8-inch dbh), a dead co-dominant, at the southwest corner of the Guest House.
• two northern hemlocks (26-inch and 25-inch dbh) on a slope to the west of the Maid’s Cabin.
• one sugar maple (27-inch dbh) located on the southwest corner of the Main Lodge.
• one large oak snag (30-inch dbh) next to the connector path from Zen Garden up to the Green House.
• one spruce snag (5-inch dbh) east of tennis court fence and one paper birch (10-inch dbh) leaning over tennis court fence.

Pruning is also needed on one white pine east of the Main Lodge to remove dead branches in the crown and one red oak across the road from the pole shed to remove branches overhanging the road. While up in the pine, evaluation of the crown condition shall be done and recommendations for future treatment shall be provided. Optional tasks (dependent on funding availability): Removal of dead spruce south of the Greenhouse. Trees to be removed and pruned are depicted on the enclosed map. Grinding down of 10-15 existing stumps along roads and trails to ground level. This will include the stumps from the removal described above and grinding down of roots in the road located west of the Guest House.

All trees shall be limbed out using appropriate rigging techniques to ensure public safety and prevent unnecessary damage to surrounding turf, trees, shrubs and landscape plantings. The buildings, sidewalks, and associated hardscape shall be protected from the impact of falling wood.
