Description

NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE This notice is being published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 5.101 requiring dissemination of information for proposed contract actions. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract, and is not a request for competitive quotes/proposals. The statutory authority for this sole source procurement is prescribed by FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1)(i). The Supervisor of Shipbuilding in Bath, Maine intends to award a Sole Source contract to Tom Smith Fire Equipment Co. Inc. of Brandon, FL. This purchase order is for fire outfitting equipment in the form of turnout gear – coats & pants for USNS Robert E Simanek, ESB 7 in San Diego, CA.  SSBA will use Simplified Acquisition Procedures and Other Than Full and Open Competition. The authority for soliciting a single source under simplified acquisition procedures is FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) which states that contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available (e.g., urgency, exclusive licensing agreements, brand-name or industrial mobilization). The proposed contract action is Sole Source. In accordance with FAR Subpart 5.102, the required justification documentation is attached. No solicitation or RFQ will be forthcoming. Interested parties may identify their interest and submit product information in response to this office via email to pamela.j.everett2.civ@us.navy.mil. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract is entirely at the discretion of the Government.
