Description

The project, P684 Trident Refit Facility (TRF) Expansion, constructs new COLUMBIA Class SSBN maintenance facilities and renovates existing OHIO Class SSBN maintenance facilities, warehouses, and logistical support facilities across multiple waterfront and upland locations at Naval Submarine Base (NSB) Kings Bay, GA. The project also relocates multiple workshops and optimizes industrial maintenance practices. Additionally, the project corrects existing building system deficiencies and restores and expands major SSBN maintenancecapabilities at NSB Kings Bay, which directly support Sea Based Strategic Deterrence and Navy Nuclear Deterrence Mission (NNDM) readiness. The project as proposed (FY25) introduces new COLUMBIA SSBN maintenance capabilities at existing and new facilities. Project enables Dual Class (COLUMBIA and OHIO Class SSBNs) maintenance capabilities to meet FY28 COLUMBIA SSBN Ready for Maintenance (RFM) dates, and improves scheduled, unscheduled, and emergent maintenance activity support in order to meet the mission to maintain our presence at sea in the execution of strategic nuclear deterrence as required by US STRATCOM.
