Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to KRJA Systems, Inc. for the Maintenance and Service on the PointStudio and PointStudio Geotechnical Tools. The Maptek I-Site 8200 laser scanner and associated Point Studio software were custom designed to meet the needs of the mining industry and are especially capable of measuring voids, drives, tunnels, and joint orientations. The geotechnical module for the I-Site software is primarily important and no other software has been found with comparable ability to map and analyze discontinuities within a point cloud and triangulation manipulation software. The I-Site 8200 laser scanner is rugged hardware designed for use in an underground mining environment and the use of this hardware and software in that environment has been demonstrated in numerous conference presentations and NIOSH research over the past five years. The direct interfacing of both the laser scanner and the software would greatly simplify and expedite data collection and processing compared to mixing other manufacturer laser scanners.

This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all responses received within five (5) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government.  A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.  Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
