Description
The U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Criminal Investigation Division, Seattle Field Office has prepared this justification for other than full and open competition in support of The Seattle Prosecutor Murder (SEPROM) Task Force (TF) which includes the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Seattle Police Department, the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington (WDWA).
SEPROM is the investigation of the homicide of AUSA Thomas Wales. October 11, 2001, Wales was shot through the basement window of his Seattle home. Seattle and the Seattle Police Department have jointly investigated since the homicide. DOJ is prosecuting since the Seattle USAO is recused. If Wales was killed due to his work, he will be the first AUSA killed in the line of duty. A $2.5 million reward is currently being offered by the DOJ and the National Association of Former US Attorneys for information leading to the solution of the case.
This position will require Natale Gasperetti who has the requisite investigative background and indepth knowledge of the SEPROM investigation. Natale Gasperetti is one of two investigators that have 18 years of experience with the SEPROM investigation. Gasperetti will be engaged to help review and summarize the SEPROM investigative file, as well as to provide recommendations to possible investigatigative steps to be taken.
