Description of Requirement Background.
This contract requires the Contractor to provide all supplies and services specified, and effective for the period stated, in the Schedule. The components were installed as a new system in 2003 and have been in operation since 2004. Mechanical components of the compressors have worn over time due to the constant operation since 2004. The compressor unit on Compressor #2 was replaced in 2021. Power outages and Power surges have shortened the life of the variable frequency drives, damaging internal components. The Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) regulate power usage as the system components ramp up or down to meet cooling requirements, saving energy. Currently the drives are not able to operate the compressors, one of the fans on the condenser tower and two cold storage rooms. Service maintenance is required on both compressor units due to system age and serviceable parts wearing out for the system. The VFDs that operate the compressors and one condenser fan and two cooler rooms also need to be replaced because of failed internal components.
