Description

Work associated with the subject requirement consists of creating an approximately 50-acre eco-island chain at the Bonefish Cove dredge site in LWL. The 0.93-+ will consist of approximately 350,000 yards of borrow material taken from the Peanut Island DMMA allowing the creation of 11 acres of planted mangrove seedlings and 1 acre of oyster habitat as part of the eco-island chain. The building of the islands on a low slope will provide approximately 38 acres of Submerged Aquatic Vegetation (SAV) habitat. The hauling distance is approximately 10 nautical miles and must cross under four bridges, two of which are draw bridges. Work includes clearing and grubbing, excavation and transportation of fill material, constructing stone wave breaks, oyster reefs and bird mounds, as well as planting mangroves. Incidental related work also includes turbidity and vibration control monitoring.
