Caisson Platoon Horses

The Mission and Installation Contracting Command – Fort Belvoir (MICC-FB) requests your proposal for the requirement titled “Caisson Platoon Horses.”   The Government intends to award a Multiple Blanket Purchase Agreement. This BPA will be reviewed by the Contracting Officer at least once annually before the anniversary of the effective date, and revised to conform to all requirements of Statutes, Executive Orders, and the FAR.  

The Caisson Platoon is requesting to purchase horses annually and must begin to conduct life cycle management of the herd in order to maintain mission capability, safety of the Soldiers, and safety of the horses. The U.S. Army Caisson Platoon conducts memorial affairs operations in support of all Joint Services in Arlington National Cemetery to honor our Nation’s fallen service members and their families. On order, the Caisson Platoon provides assets in support of State Funeral missions and key strategic engagement ceremonies in and beyond the National Capitol Region. The horses purchased will integrate with the current Caisson herd used for funeral ceremonies in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. The U.S. Army Caisson Platoon’s horses vary in age and size and the herd currently consists of 56 horses.
