Single Source: Next-Generation Sequencing Instrument (NGSI)

In accordance with Section 3.2.2.4 of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Acquisition Management System (AMS), the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis for the FAA's decision to contract on a single source basis.

The FAA intends to enter into a single source contract with Illumina. Through Market Research Illumina has been identified as a provider with proprietary technologies. The sequence format produced by Illumina instruments is the industry standard for data sequencing. Illumina is the sole source for equipment that matches GEN’s requirements.

Therefore, based on this information, a competitive solicitation is not available for this procurement. If your firm does not agree with this single source determination, please provide evidence of your firm's capability and experience in providing the items outlined above and the FAA will evaluate accordingly.
