Description
The Government is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet qualification requirements for the production of one or more types of pneumatic start carts (also known as bleed air, or air start) to conduct ground servicing tasks on one or more types of United States Air Force aircraft. A pneumatic start cart is required to conduct tasks such as:
• Starting aircraft auxiliary power units
• Starting aircraft engines
• Powering environmental control systems
• Pressurization checks of seals and tests for leaks
This is an effort to modernize Air Force Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE). This market survey is to develop knowledge on the present state of the market and to identify opportunities to:
• Reduce the weight of AGE used to service aircraft
• Reduce the physical size of AGE
• Reduce the noise produced by operating AGE
• Reduce pollution produced by operating AGE
• Increase the fuel economy of AGE
• Implement the capability to operate via diesel, electrical power supply, batteries, etc.
o Move pneumatic start cart requirements away from turbine engine
