Description
SCOPE OF WORK:
The Federal Highway Administration, Central Federal Lands Highway Division (FHWA-CFLHD), incoordination with the National Park Service, Mojave National Preserve, is proposing minor improvementsto approximately 94 miles on various routes in the Mojave National Preserve. The Preserve is in in SanBernardino County, California.
The project consists of safety improvements targeted to reduce roadway departure including signage,striping and mumble strips on nearly 94 miles of roadway across four routes within the Mojave National Mojave Preserve; Kelbaker (57 mi.), Kelso-Cima (19 mi.), Morningstar Mine (15mi.) Roads and the northernmost 2.74miles of Ivanpah Road. Improvements also include speed feedback signs, minor shoulder reconditioning intargeted areas, and road closure gates.
The work is occurring in a natural resource sensitive area and there are environmental constraints that willaff ect the type of operations. Prior experience on projects of similar magnitude within National ParksSystem is required.
PRINCIPLE WORK ITEMS:
800 square yards of shoulder reconditioning
500 square yards of asphalt concrete patch, type 2
4 Gate, metal 32-foot width
300 each sign system
3 each sign system (with flashing beacon)
4 miles mumble strip
8 miles mumble strip, shoulder
270 miles pavement markings, type b, solid
130 miles pavement markings, type b, broken
10 system installation speed feedback signs
ESTIMATED COST RANGE:
The estimated cost is between $2,000,000 and $5,000,000
ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE:
The anticipated award date is in late April 2023 with construction duration is estimated at 2-3 months.
