Description
U.S. Army DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory: Science of Extreme Materials Workshop - October 30, 2024
The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Army Research Laboratory (DEVCOM ARL) is the Army’s sole foundational research laboratory focused on cutting-edge scientific discovery, technological innovation, and transitioning capabilities for the future Army. To support the Science of Extreme Materials competency, DEVCOM ARL Northeast Regional Site will host a workshop to connect with potential partners from institutions of higher learning and industry to inform them about the ARL’s mission and opportunities for collaboration.
- When: 30 October 2024 (Wednesday), 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Where: Northeastern University Innovation Campus, Building 5 - 1st Floor Conference Facility | 147 South Bedford Street, Burlington, MA 01803
The event will feature plenary presentations in the morning, including an overview of ARL’s Science of Extreme Materials Competency led by Dr. Chris Hoppel and Dr. Chakrapani (Pani) Varanasi. Their presentations will highlight the Science of Extreme Materials thrust areas, capabilities, S&T strategy, and various collaboration mechanisms.
Following ARL keynotes, participants will be invited to provide 15-minute lightning talks on their department or research groups’ efforts related to the science of extreme materials. Networking opportunities between attendees will be included to encourage budding collaborations. A detailed agenda will be provided prior to the workshop via email to the registered attendees.
All briefings and discussions will be conducted at the unclassified level.
Notes:
This is an in-person event, and there is no charge for attendance. There will be free on-site visitor parking. Space and time constraints of the facilities will require limit to maximum 100 participants and 15 invited talks.
