Description

IMPROVED RIBBON BRIDGE (IRB)

Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the Government plans to award a single award firm-fixed price (FFP) contract to General Dynamics European Land Systems Bridge Systems (GDELS-BS) to procure various kits and parts required for the fielding of the IRBs, to include but not limited to the Basic Issue Items (BII), Authorized Stock List (ASL), Prescribed Load List (PLL), and Special Tools & Test Equipment (STTE) to support Operator New Equipment Training (OPNET) and Field Level Maintenance New Equipment Training (FLMNET).

The IRB is an improvement to the Standard Ribbon Bridge (SRB) and consists of bridge elements called bays (Interior Bays and Ramp Bays). The IRB is fully capable of handling Military Load Classification (MLC) 80 Tracked (T) and MLC 96 Wheeled (W) system crossings under normal crossing conditions. The IRB provides a continuous roadway over water when permanent bridges are not available. It also provides a raft capability to transport combat or tactical vehicles.
