This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract and is not a request for quotes. The Department of Veterans Affairs East Orange VAMC intends to award a Firm Fixed Price Sole-Source Brand Name only action to: Name of Contractor: Marathon Medical Street Address: 3251 Lewiston Street, Suite 16 City, State, Zip: Aurora, CO, 80011 The Smiths Medical CADD Solis pumps are used for pain management in patients via the controlled infusion of local anesthetics via peripheral nerve or epidural catheter. Per hospital policy, a unique pump must be used for this application to prevent the accidental infusion of improper medications via a standard IV pump. In Accordance with Statutory Authority Permitting Other than Full and Open Competition: 41 USC §3304(a)(5), 38 U.S. Code § 8127(c), as implemented by FAR 6.302-5 (Authorized or Required by Statute).  COs may use the non-competitive (sole source) procedures authorized in VAAR 819.7008 (DEVIATION) or VAAR 819.7009 (DEVIATION) up to $5,000,000.  Check the specific VAAR clause used below: ( x ) 819.7008 Sole source awards to a certified service-disabled veteran-owned small business; or (  ) 819.7009 Sole source awards to a certified veteran-owned small business An additional requirement is full interoperability between these infusion pumps and the older CADD pumps which we currently use in the ambulatory setting, including a common set of single patient use disposablesThe Veterans Health Administration prohibits the use of gray market items in their Medical Centers.
