Description
The U.S. Army Medical Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) intends to issue a sole source award. The U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC), Combat Casualty Care Research Program (CCCRP) will co-sponsor a Forum on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) hosted by the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). The Form will provide CCCRP an ongoing mechanism and neutral setting in which the full spectrum of Government stakeholders and public and private sector Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to explore opportunities for collective action directed towards advancement in TBI care and research. The requirement contains a base year plus two option years.
The NASEM will convene the Forum on TBI two (2) to three (3) times per year to provide an ongoing mechanism and neutral setting in which the full spectrum of Government stakeholders to co-sponsor a Forum on TBI organized and conducted by the NASEM and public and private sector SMEs will explore opportunities for collective action addressing contemporary topics in TBI care and research. Forum members will address short- and long-term strategic planning for advancing TBI care and research spanning the full TBI continuum from prevention through acute care and rehabilitation.
NASEM established an ad hoc committee and the hosting of workshops under contract W81XWH-20-C-0126. The scope of the committee and workshops is to generate a consensus report related to the future of TBI research and care. NASEM is to deliver the report during 2nd quarter of FY22. As a result of this study, a need for an ongoing TBI forum is required to translate the results of this study to the military and civilian communities. NASEM is currently establishing this forum and the Department of Defense (DoD) is planning to participate as a key stakeholder. CCCRP requires to co-sponsor the forum along with other military services and federal agencies.
