Environmentally Friendly Superhydrophobic Coatings for Textile Applications

The U.S. Army Contracting Command – Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG), Natick Division in support of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Soldier Center (DEVCOM-SC) intends to award a Firm Fixed Price contract on a sole source basis to the University of Massachusetts Lowell, located at 600 Suffolk Street, Suite 212, Lowell, Massachusetts 01854-3692 under the authority as prescribed in FAR 13.106-1(b)(1).

The requirement is a follow-on effort to contract W911QY-21-P-0042. This requirement is for research regarding environmentally friendly superhydrophobic coatings for textile applications to determine if the non-PFAS coating that was developed under the prior contract is suitable for textile applications. The University of Massachusetts Lowell owns the patent for the coating that will be utilized under this new requirement. Research indicates the only source that can provide unique guidance and characterization is the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 541715 and the size standard is 1000 employees.
