Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District requires a contract to provide Moravian Creek Emergency Repairs, Wilkes County, North Carolina, number W912PM22B0006.

Description of Work:

The work shall consist of clearing material from sinkhole to stabilized slope and expose existing corrugated metal pipe (CMP). The existing pipe shall be cut and removed. Confirmation of pipe size and replacement with approximately 50 linear feet (lf) of corrugated metal pipe at a minimum slope of 1%. Due to the nature of this defect stacked trench boxes are recommended to remove and replace the existing pipe. This will require a section of the fabriform blanket to be removed and replaced. The section to be cut out is approximately 18ft in width and 21.2 ft in length. Approximately 7 cubic yds of concrete shall be needed for the fabriform blanket and constructed in accordance with the original typical section to the “Moravian Creek Flood Protection” plan set, which shall include the geotextile. The area outside the fabriform blanket to be excavated is approximately 8 feet in width, 18 feet in length, and 16.5 ft in depth. Approximately 149 cubic yards (cyds) of fill material shall be needed. Information is based on survey performed on September 22, 2021 and September 23, 2021. The Contractor shall field a verify quantities prior to construction.

The second repair is replacing the rip rap that has been displaced. A total of approximately 155 linear feet, approximately 75 tons, of rip rap will be place at the toe of slope in two sections along Moravian Creek. Rip rap stone shall be bedded and have a minimum diameter of 16 inches, or the size appropriate to prevent scour from displacing the stone, to a maximum diameter of 33 inches. Rip rap sizing will be calculated in accordance with EM 1110-2-1601 with an increased safety factor. Rip rap slope protection shall be in accordance with section 6.73.1 of the NCESC Manual, and similarly outlet protection shall be in accordance with NCESC Manual 6.41.

This solicitation is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside. The contract issued will be Firm Fixed Price. The Magnitude of Construction of this project is between $500,000 and $1,000,000.  This solicitation will be issued in electronic format only and will be available on or about August 09, 2022.  The bid opening date will be specified in the solicitation when it is issued. No additional media (CD-ROM, floppy disks, facsimiles, etc) will be provided.   Paper copies of this solicitation will not be available. Other methods of requesting a package will not be honored.  The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 237990 – Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction and the size standard is $39,500,000.00.
