Description
Notice Type: Notice of Intent – Sole Source
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Fabrication Technology Office (FTO), intends to repair a Agie HPM600U 5-axis mill machine on a sole source basis to GF Machining Solutions LLC under the authority of FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b), Soliciting from a Single Source.
Background:
FTO’s primary line of service is metal fabrication, mechanical engineering, and electromechanical assembly. This service is used to engineer and fabricate high precision components and assemblies for use in one-of-a-kind measurement instruments conceived by NIST scientists and engineers. FTO depends on its installed base of manufacturing technology to support the many services needs of its customers. This manufacturing technology base includes a full family of automated and conventional milling machines, lathes, grinders, electrical discharge machines, boring mills, and other related manufacturing equipment.
FTO requires repairs and recalibration of the milling head spindle on our Agie HPM600U 5-axis mill. Currently, this mill is unable to run as the machine’s spindle will not rotate freely or accurately. Removal of this machine compromises FTO’s operations. This repair will require an Agie certified technician to disassemble and send the damaged spindle to a repair facility, change machine filters and fluids, and reinstall and calibrate the repaired spindle to correct the machine’s operational problems.
Interested parties that believe they could satisfy the requirements listed above for the repair of the Agie HPM600U shall clearly identify their capability to do so in writing on or before September 23, 2022 at 12:00 pm Eastern time. This notice of intent is not a solicitation. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether competitive procedures could be used for this acquisition. Any questions regarding this notice must be submitted in writing via email to Nicholas.crowley@nist.gov.
