Description
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Office of Acquisitions and Grants Services, Facilities Support Branch, Human Foods Program (HFP), intends to award a sole source, firm fixed price delivery order to GSA Schedule Holder, Thermo Electron North America LLC., 5225 Verona Road, Madison WI 53711, under the authority of FAR 8.405-6 (1) (B), Limiting Sources under the GSA Federal Supply Schedule Program.
The FDA/HFP has a requirement for a benchtop quadrupole- OrbitrapTM high-resolution mass spectrometer (HRMS) with liquid chromatograph for the development and validation of qualitative and quantitative methods for chemical residues and contaminants in food, including mycotoxins, pesticides, and veterinary drugs. A quadrupole- OrbitrapTM mass spectrometer is necessary to provide the flexibility, speed, accuracy, and resolving power to properly identify known and novel contaminants in food. Past work in this area has shown that quadrupole-OrbitrapTM mass spectrometers are uniquely positioned to provide this identification power, but existing equipment fails to meet existing requirements from complex samples at time-scales supportive of timely Agency action and decision making.
