Description
The Department of Defense (DoD) requires the development of a United States (US) based PGU-48/B Manufacturing Pilot Line Prototype that will support: 1) PGU-48/B, 25x137mm, improving technology to enable a manufacturing process with less reliance on the volatile global environment.
The PGU-48/B Manufacturing Pilot Line Prototype, to include capabilities and associated efforts, will provide direct benefit in terms of enhancing munition availability, considerations for system integration; opportunities to incorporate flexibility; and a pathway for achieving a qualified manufacturing status in the U.S.
The application of innovative technologies in a PGU-48/B Manufacturing Pilot Line Prototype will improve supply sources by 1) addressing a supply chain vulnerability, 2) posturing the Industrial Base in meeting an Urgent Operational Need on a sole source basis, and 3) expanding the Industrial Base to achieve meaningful competition.
PGU-48/B Manufacturing Pilot Line Prototype and Qualified Sources of Supply. The DoD desires to demonstrate and assess innovative technologies, which support high-performance PGUs through industrial base related means, including but not limited to, identification of alternative sources of supplies, through the implementation of innovative technological manufacturing methods and techniques.
PGU-48/B Manufacturing Pilot Line Prototype Technical Performance. The DoD desires to demonstrate and assess PGU-48/B test articles to ensure validation of test and evaluation standards to ensure performance specification of the test articles meet the specification. The end state of this OT effort are to 1) develop innovative technological manufacturing methods and techniques in establishing a PGU-48/B Manufacturing Pilot Line Prototype while also identifying alternative sources of supply within the US, 2) to successfully completed first article prototypes in a US based manufacturing facility, and 3) reimagine manufacturing processes made during the project as they relate to capability, capacity, efficiency, sources of supply, and supply chain vulnerability. This requirement is classified Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
